The purpose of these classes is to help dogs learn and practice obedience under all types of conditions, environments, and distractions, starting with the five basic commands: sit, down, heal, stay and come. As the dog progresses, the number of commands, exercises, and the level of difficulty increases drastically. The final desired result is to have a well-mannered, confident, and well-behaved dog under all situations.
This is a drop in class. The duration of this course is 8-12 weeks, depending on the progress of each individual dog and handler.
Any dog, any size, any breed. See the "Prerequisites" section below.
By the end of this course, dogs should have learned in motion sit and down, stay at different distances, come off leash, stand, and finish. Some commands will be practiced using voice and hand signals. Commands will be given in different orders so the dog learns not to predict the next command.
Age: 6 months and older, Immunizations, including rabies, and a clean bill of health from your veterinarian is a must. Dogs must be CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certified and must have taken the "Beginner Level II" course or demonstrate equal skills.
